Today as we celebrate the feast of the Ascension, we are reminded that Christ’s saving work on earth continued through his disciples…and now through us.
Mr. MW bears a heavy burden as he strives to keep his mother and brother housed while completing his education. Since becoming unemployed two years ago, he has done everything possible to stabilize their home. Managing the utilities has become his responsibility, and the weight of the electricity bill has been overwhelming. In his search for help, he reached out and received support from a team that made a pledge to the utility company, providing him with some breathing room while he continues to seek employment.
When we give to the poor, God indeed pours his love, peace, and joy into our hearts, into our lives, and into the hearts of those who are poor.
